The Monster World Rally Team revealed its WRC Focus that will be piloted this year by Ken Block. Honestly, its one of the coolest rally cars I’ve seen in a long while. The car while predominantly sponsored by Monster also sports the logos of DC Shoes, Ford, Dirt 2 (all for obvious reasons), and Castrol. As happy as I am to see Ken move to a Ford, I’m even happier for what this could do for the Rally America series. With Block running in both the WRC and in the…

Rally – Kimi Shows True Colors
Mercedes Grand Prix were not the only team to release a new livery today. Red Bull has issued a picture featuring Kimi Raikkonen and his new Citroen C4 and its livery as well. Raikkonen who made his highly publicized switch to the WRC this fall turned in his Ferrari for a Citroen C4. The car looks amazing and will probably the best looking one running the stages, provided the Finn can keep the car right side up. Kimi will contest all rounds under the Citroen Junior satellite team except for…

Rally – Hirvonen Strikes Gold at Monte
The third and final day of the legendary Monte Carlo Rally has come to an end and Mikko Hirvonen has won in fine fashion. The WRC driver claimed his first victory in the IRC and made a statement for M-Sport and Ford in the process. The Ford Fiesta S2000 has tasted victory in its very first outing and did it easily after an exciting third day seen some of the best driving to date from Frenchman Sebastian Ogier. WRC Citroen Junior driver Ogier proved why he was be groomed to…
Read MoreMikko Cruising at Monte Carlo
The first two days of the Monte Carlo Rally have come and gone, and thus far the event has seen a number of attrition related factors that have taken out many of the IRC front runners. One thing that has remained the same is the 42 sec. lead that is enjoyed by Mikko Hirvonen. Day-1: The opening day at Monte Carlo was action packed and the M-Sport Fiesta S2000 thrived on the slick and treacherous surface. The Fiesta entered by M-Sport and piloted by Ford’s WRC ace was quickest through…

Hopefully a recently announced change to the refueling system for the 2010 IndyCar season will see a reduction in the number of premature drive-offs and fuel spills that lead to the fiery pit-lane incidents that we saw in 2009. Two such incidents stand out in my mind: Meira’s fire at Indianapolis, and Tony “The Torch” Kanaan’s fire in Edmonton. In both of these incidents, fuel was sprayed over the driver and car during a refueling stop and was ignited by the exhaust manifold. These situations are often caused by premature…

Rally – Update on Last Ditch Racing’s Preparation for Salem
John Cassidy posted a new article at LastDitchRacing.net updating everyone on their preparation for the 100 Acre Wood Rally coming up next month in Salem, MO. I know I’m running the risk of really boring everyone with too many blog posts, but it’s therapeutic and helps me organize my thoughts a bit as the prep continues for our trip to 100 Acre Wood Rally in Salem, Missouri the end of next month. As I mentioned in another post, we’re relocating the battery to the rear seat of the rally car.…

Autoweek Magazine announced today that Marino Franchitti has signed with Highcroft Racing and joins David Brabham and Simon Pagenaud as their third LMP driver for 2010. Marino had been with the Dyson team driving the Mazda powered Lola coupe for the past two seasons, but with Dyson’s 2010 plans still not completed with regards to running a second car and the 12 Hours of Sebring not too far away, Franchitti opted for a part-time ride with Highcroft as a third driver in the longer endurance races on the ALMS calender,…
