Episode 297 UMMM-Cast – OpenPaddock.net

Podcast: Play in new window | DownloadAfter a month of life interfering, Doug, John & Tom are back to recap the astounding finish at Le Mans that had us all gobsmacked, not to mention the Formula One soap opera from Toronto to Baku. The Verzon IndyCar Series gets more than a nod with four races that resulted in two solid hits, one strikeout and an out-of-the-park home run! (Sorry for the American baseball references, Tom!)

Episode 296 UMMM-Cast (part 2) – OpenPaddock.net

Podcast: Play in new window | DownloadA while ago, we all connected to talk about what is arguably the greatest weekend of racing, which includes the Monaco Grand Prix and the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race. As you know, Mike, Dug and John were at Indianapolis for the historic event. We went on so long that I felt it prudent to break the podcast into two parts. Sorry it’s taken so long to get this out there, for our tens of fans. Life gets in the way, sometimes. Here’s the second…

Episode 295 UMMM-Cast – OpenPaddock.net

Podcast: Play in new window | DownloadThis is likely the last UMMM Cast until after Indy. Tom and I share morning beverages (for once!) as we discuss the great Red Bull driver swap going into the the Spanish Grand Prix. The Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis was a great race, but it’s overshadowed by our excitement about the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race. Tickets are in hand, hotel is reserved and Bronze Badges are waiting at the IMS credential office. Marshall Pruett speculates about the end…

Podcast: Play in new window | DownloadThe “better late than never” UMMM-Cast! It’s May and we’re all agog about our collective trip to Indianapolis! Episode 292 UMMM-Cast – OpenPaddock.net

Podcast: Play in new window | DownloadEverything is UMMM this go round! Formula One goes full stupid with the new qualifying format and suddenly recants.  ABC had the most woeful coverage of Verizon IndyCar Series at St. Petersburg, while Fox butchered IMSA’s 12 Hours of Sebring. John & Mike lament the US viewing offerings as we compare what our friend Tom has to offer across the pond and alcohol-fueled jealousy ensues.

IndyCar – ABC and mostly “WHY?!”

If you tuned into ABC’s broadcast of the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, you saw a race.  A good race. A case could be made for a great race. Regardless of where it ranks on anyone’s personal excitement scale, the point is that you saw a race. Granted, this was on ABC, which may as well stand for Always Bad Commentating. The delivery and timing of Scott Goodyear and Eddie Cheever certainly lived down to expectation.  Fortunately, Allen Bestwick and Dr. Jerry Punch were able to elevate the race…

IndyCar – 2016 Schedule Drops

After my soggy trip to the United States Grand Prix (write-up forthcoming), I’m taking a sick day.  It’s legitimate, as I was fighting a sinus infection going into the weekend.  Slogging around in cold rain and wind didn’t help, I’m sure. So what happens on my sick day? Verizon IndyCar Series announces their 2016 schedule! About friggin’ time! Although, I think they did it for Robin Miller’s birthday, which happens to be today.  (Happy birthday, fellow curmudgeon!) The #INDYCAR2016 schedule is here! 5 ovals, 5 street courses and 5 road…
