Rounds Nine and 10 of the Mazda MX-5 Cup Series came to a close this weekend at the renowned road course of Road America, located in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Driver Dean Copeland had a great performance on his favorite track, finishing first in both races. During Round 10, Copeland made a great save after going over the curb in Canada Corner and injuring the car, resulting in the steering wheel being offset by almost 90 degrees, yet still managed to hold on to the lead and take the top step of the podium. Action Express racing dominated the Grand Prix at the Brickyard this past weekend. Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi took the lead going into the first turn of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course and didn’t look back. The final race of the 2012 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear saw the checkered flags this afternoon putting a cap on the 2012 season. Gabby Chavez of JDC MotorSports won the pole position yesterday afternoon, edging out Andretti Autosports’ Sage Karam by a mere 0.05s! While the first two positions in the championship standings are already determined, Positions 3 and 4 are still hotly contested by Juncos Racing pilot Connor De Phillippi and Sage Karam. The Cooper Tires USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda held it’s first triple-header weekend this past Friday and Saturday at the historic Road America circuit in Elkhart Lake, WI.
