Le Mans – Audi Make Practice Statement

Day 1 of practice for the 24 Hours of Le Mans is in the books and rain covered the race course for most of the day. Audi’s #1 car piloted by Capello/Kristensen/McNish took top honors with a time of 3:30.07. The North American Audi team put their R15 a mere 0.054 off the top spot. Following Audi was Peugeot and their 908 HDi Coupe. The French team put the cars 3/5/9th on the time sheet. The Pescarolo team ran 4th in their Peugeot as well. The day seen a number…

Le Mans – 24 Hour Entry List

With a mere three days before the Le Mans we are a little hard pressed to find any great stories to build up one of the greatest races on the planet. However, we were able to get an entry list and as usual, Audi are the clear favorites and there are a load of other LMP1 cars that have a chance to spoil Aston Martin. Aston will be looking to finish the race and hold off the likes of the Oreca team. As stories make themselves available we will report…

Rally – STPR Review and Thoughts

So the very brief STPR has concluded and if I have learned anything…it is that I will not be picking lottery numbers anytime soon. Ken Block has taken victory for the second time this year in impressive fashion and the points battle has become even closer. The rally was fast and furious and Block set the early tempo. My favorite for the race and P-WRC driver Patrik Sandell fell out of the event after the first stage! While the reason is not 100%, the team did blame an engine failure…

IndyCar – PR Mouthpiece Says Nuh-uh!

The stories posted at IndyCar.com usually contain all the pleasantries about how Shaq has bigger feet than Danica, how the cars could run on a ceiling and how Stanton Barrett is a stunt driver.  To sum it up, it amounts to PR. Enter the phantom caution at TMS that took away Briscoe’s staggering lead around lap 150.  Today, the IndyCar PR mouthpiece put up an article explaining how there was really debris on the track.  It seems that we the fans have made our opinion quite clear on these phantom…

Rally – Solberg Secures Sponsorship

In an article posted by the awesome guys at Rallybuzz.com, Petter Solberg’s WRC team has secured a big sponsorship with oil giant Shell joining. Solberg has put together spectacular results thus far with a very dated Citroen Xsara. Not only is the deal running for the rest of this year, but it will also run the full 2010 season. That being said, that should ensure that Petter receives upgrades as he needs them and will also see the former champion run all of the rallies this year and next. We…

IndyCar – Texas Showdown

Once again the IndyCar Series returns to the Texas Motor Speedway. TMS is one of the few venues where the IndyCar series has had a sustained run of good attendance numbers that have been helped by lots of the NASCAR season ticket holders who have stopped selling or giving away their IndyCar tickets and started attending the race. So far this year though, the most competitive oval race has been last week at Milwaukee. With TMS being a 1.5 mile cookie cutter track, it may be yet another dull oval…

Le Mans – Aston Martin’s Rough Start

What a difference a couple days makes. Aston Martin had just released a third car for Le Mans and a string of new drivers. The team then proceeded to Monza and it all changed on one straightaway. Jos Verstappen was piloting the LMP1 around the historic Monza race course when he lost control and crashed heavily into a nearby barricade. While Jos suffered minor injuries, the car suffered a 15G impact and has been destroyed. What a difference a couple days makes! The team will now spend the run up…
