Hopefully a recently announced change to the refueling system for the 2010 IndyCar season will see a reduction in the number of premature drive-offs and fuel spills that lead to the fiery pit-lane incidents that we saw in 2009. Mari Hulman George today announced that Tony Hulman George has resigned his position on the board of directors for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and for Hulman and Company, completing the separation that was started earlier this year. The remaining board of directors is comprised of Tony’s mother Mari Hulman George, Tony’s sisters Nancy George, Josie George, Kathi George-Conforti and family attorney Jack Snyder. The Sauber team has signed 38 year old Pedro de la Rosa to partner with Kamui Kobayashi for their 2010 season. Pedro dropped off the face of the F1 map some 7 years ago when he signed up as McLaren’s test/reserve driver. During that time he competed in 9 races for the silver arrows. F1 – Flavio Suing for Driver Contracts

The FIA may be in for a rude awakening.  Flavio Briatore has started legal proceedings against the FIA in Geneva, Switzerland to recover damages from the FIA for forcing drivers to cancel their management contracts with Flavio’s company. This is on the heels of Flavio’s successful lawsuit against the FIA for banning him from involvement from FIA sanctioned motorsport indefinitely and for declaring that no driver who held a management contract with Flavio’s company would be granted a superlicense. Force India has announced that they will have their 2010 car, the VJM3, ready for on track testing at Jerez on February 10th. The team decided to focus on further development of the car, instead of pushing onto the track February 1st with the vast majority of the field.  They will be joining Red Bull and Virgin who will also be seeing the track for the first time at Jerez.
