Portland, OR (May 6, 2012) — Subaru Rally Team USA’s David Higgins and Craig Drew won 12 stages out of 16 to win his fourth Oregon Trail Rally. Higgins never trailed in the rally even when he shot off the road at high speed and bent his rear control arms. The team managed to finish the stage and hobbled to the service for repairs. “I thought I was done for when I went off,” said Higgins, “But my team got me back on the road. I couldn’t have done it…

SCCA – Fun In The Sun at Heartland Park Topeka
The third round of the Kansas City Region SCCA Solo Championship took place this past Saturday at Heartland Park Topeka on the infield tarmac on the south end of the course. With all that wide-open tarmac, the course was much faster and open, with broader corners than most autocross courses tend to be. There was a nice mix of lengthy straights, high-speed sweepers, double-apex corners, tight hairpins, and of course a couple of slalom sections. Being held jointly by the Kansas Region and the Kansas City Region, the turnout was…

By: Kevin Neely For the first time ever, monsoon like rains stayed away from the Anhembi Circuit at Sao Paulo’s Sambadrome, so moisture had no influence on the Itaipava Sao Paulo 300 presented by Nestle. That was pretty much the only thing that changed. The results were the same as they have been for the past three years; Will Power dominates and takes home the trophy. Three weeks, three wins. Is there anything else you can say about this season for Will Power? With the exception of being caught out…

By: Kevin Neeley 1. Will Power #12 Team Penske Chevrolet All he’s done is overcome starting 9th and 12th to win the last two races. He’s had two Fastest Laps and Fastest Leader Laps. The one race he didn’t win was simply due to being caught out on pit stop sequence. Prior to this season, the criticism of Will was he couldn’t race his way to the front from back in the field. Judging by this year’s performance, that obviously isn’t the case. Will Power IS the Machismo of Indycar.…
Read MoreSCCA – First Experiences and Experienced Insights at a Solo Event
While I’ve been to the SCCA RunOffs before, I had never attended a solo event until this past Sunday. Wow! Simply, wow! I’m not sure exactly what I had expected from my first solo event (aka autocross), but I wasn’t expecting something as interesting, fun, and exciting as what I saw this past Sunday. In many respects, it reminded me of the vibe and feel of a rally. There was a mix of highly-prepped, purpose-built racing machines brought on trailers with support vehicles, parts, and personnel, and machines that were…
