It has been announced this afternoon that Ryan Hunter-Reay will be moving from the #21 Vision Racing car to the #14 AJ Foyt car to replace Vitor Meira for the remainder of the season. Vitor broke his back after heavy contact with the wall at Indy after he was bumped by Raphael Matos in the closing laps of the race. His back did not need surgery to correct and the recovery process may wrap up before the end of the…

IndyCar – PR Mouthpiece Says Nuh-uh!

The stories posted at IndyCar.com usually contain all the pleasantries about how Shaq has bigger feet than Danica, how the cars could run on a ceiling and how Stanton Barrett is a stunt driver.  To sum it up, it amounts to PR. IndyCar – Texas Showdown

Once again the IndyCar Series returns to the Texas Motor Speedway. IndyCar – Milwuakee Up Next

The Milwaukee Mile resumed its prime location a few years ago on the IndyCar schedule on the week following the Indy 500.  And while Eddie Gossage at Texas Motor Speedway would prefer that IndyCar not hold a race this weekend so that he could have the first race after the 500, traditionalists much prefer the schedule the way it is. Milwaukee opened for auto racing in 1903, making it the oldest motorsport venue on the planet.  In 1954 the one mile dirt oval was paved and an infield road course…

IndyCar – Indy 500 Parting Shot

The banquet is over, the teams have packed up and everybody is gearing up for Milwaukee this weekend. Helio climbed the fence on Sunday, ending an idyllic month of May for himself and for Team Penske. It tends to be a bit of a surprise when the strongest car all month actually goes on to get the milk bath, but Penske didn’t put a foot wrong in preparation for the May classic and their detailed preparation payed off. This year saw a noticeable increase in attendance (from my vantage point),…
