Dreyer and Reinbold Racing announced today that Tomas Scheckter will drive for them this weekend at Milwaukee. Initially their #23 entry was listed as TBA, indicating that Milka Duno would not be filling the seat this weekend.
Per D&R’s press release, the team is in discussion with Tomas about additional races. It would appear that our South African friend has some money for more than just Indy.
Recall that last year the #23 entry was split between Milka and Townsend Bell. So far this season, it has been split between Milka, Darren Manning and now Tomas.
Unfortunately Tomas was unable to secure a full season ride with anybody after his poor performance with Luczo Dragon’s partial season effort last year. It seems they just couldn’t make a half shaft strong enough for Tomas on pit exit. So far this season, Tomas has raced for Dale Coyne racing in the Indy 500 where he was able to finish a strong 12th for the diminutive Coyne operation.
It remains to be seen if Tomas is signed for additional races this year. Also, it is not clear which races Milka will be driving in. Needless to say though, Tomas should be a great veteran addition to the team.
This almost makes up for the laughable D&R press release before Kansas that triumphantly announced Milka had finally signed with the team and would be a great help to rookie Mike Conway when it came to oval setups….. Seriously!
