Andretti Autosport’s Zach Veach took left Infineon Raceway 11-point lead after the first two rounds of the Formula Car Challenge Winter Series presented by Goodyear, winning from the pole position in both races in the the Formula Pro Mazda class which uses the Star Mazda series equipment. Now, the young hot shoe will be heading to the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA for the final three rounds of the winter series to try and secure the championship. While this hasn’t been Zach’s only experience in a Star Mazda machine, he did score a podium finish at Mazda Raceway Laguna Raceway after all. As any driver will tell you, though, the more seat-time one can get the better! It also doesn’t hurt the confidence level to be successful in off-season efforts like this.
“I’m really looking forward to racing this weekend at Fontana with the FormulaCar Challenge Winter Series. Right now we have the points lead and if we have the luck we did at Sonoma, I think it will be a great weekend for the team and I. I would like to thank Andretti Autosport, my sponsors, and all the guys back at the shop who have made this all possible!” — Zach Veach, #77 Andretti Autosport
