What is proving to be difficult is actually finding where Kimi Raikkonen will land for 2011. Earlier this week we had mentioned that a switch to Monster World Rally was all but certain after Finnish media indicated talk between Red Bull and Kimi had broken down. However, Autosport is now said that high level sources within Citroen say a deal should be done shortly keeping the 2007 F1 champ in a junior car.
The report indicates that both parties involved are only talking 2011 and that the deal came about because it is believed Kimi can take lessons learned from last year’s embarrassing season. Regardless, if Kimi gets picked up, the world will be up in arms as many people including me believe Petter Solberg deserves the seat. The report also sites that Kimi will be in a DS3 in early January for a testing session and car shakedown. While nothing is confirmed obviously, the sources on Autosport said that a deal was all but done. Kimi will need to do a lot better this year if he plans on surviving another season in rallies top flight. Given the way Kimi has performed this past season, Citroen should get a good idea of how safe the new car is as I’m sure Kimi will trash a fair number of them.

So how soon before I can start throwing around the Petter-to-MWRT rumor?
