The event list for this weekend is pretty light, but that doesn’t mean that we won’t have hours of motorsport goodness! Saturday starts with the Mustang Challenge in the “Why We Race” series on Discovery HD Theater. Its not bad way to start a Saturday morning, and its certainly better anything else that’s on now that we have no quality Saturday morning programming like Kung Fu Theater or any number of Godzilla movies. Next up is THE sportscar event of the year in North America, the Petit LeMans at Road Atlanta. Speed will be televising the entire event, all 1000 miles or 10 hrs (whichever comes first) LIVE! Unfortunately, the IZOD IndyCar race will be airing on Versus at the same exact time as the Petit LeMans race is nearing its completion. Versus will be rebroadcasting the IndyCar race on Sunday night for the benefit of those without a DVR.
Speaking of DVRs, mine will be recording the MotoGP race at Motegi since I’m certainly NOT going to be awake at 0200 on Sunday morning to watch it live on Speed. There will be a rebroadcast of the race later in the day at 1400 followed immediately by the Moto2 race. Since there’s nothing else happening of note, you might as well leave it on Speed and watch the two WSBK races at Magny Cours that immediately follow the Moto2 race. I can’t say that I’ve been really into the WSBK series this season, but hey, its still motorcycle road racing and its a far sight better than anything else that’s likely to be on the tube.
