Kimi Raikkonen completed his first run in his new Citroen C4 today ahead of his opening test in the Artic Rally. The Finn met with his Citroen Junior squad and ran approximately 50 kilometers in the Red Bull sponsored machine.
Prior to today, Raikkonen had yet to drive a full WRC machine as he has only ran a Fiat Super 2000 up to this point. Kimi is one of the big names that the WRC added in the offseason as he completed his defection from F1. The Artic Rally that Kimi will use as a tune-up event for the season opener will kick off on 28 January. The season opener for the WRC is 12-14 February and Raikkonen will compete against the likes of Marcus Gronholm, Petter Solberg, and the usual title front runners. The former Ferrari ace has shown speed in the Fiat, but has done what all young rally drivers do and put it over on its top. Raikkonen’s rivals do not expect him to show great success in his rookie outing, but figures he will challenge for podiums after he learns the stages.
