Indianapolis media is reporting that KV Racing has named Townsend Bell to their #8 car for the Indy 500. Townsend has not seen action since last season when he raced for Dreyer & Reinbold in a car he shared with Milka Duno. Townsend did compete at Indy last year where he put up a strong 10th place finish. He has competed off and on in the IndyCar series for the last four years, but never on a full schedule.
Also reported is the addition of Oriol Servia in the #17 Rahal Letterman entry. Rahal has not competed so far in the IndyCar series this season after losing primary sponsorship from the American ethanol group EPIC. While their name was on the official entry list, there was no guarantee that they were going to show up at all this year. Oriol Servia is a strong addition to the field. He finished last years season 9th in the points as the highest placing CCWS refugee for KV Racing. It is beyond comprehension that he was not picked up at KV again this year or by anybody else for the entire 2009 campaign based on his vast experience in CART/CCWS and IndyCar. It is great to see him get a seat for May.
The entry list below has been updated to include these drivers. Also, removed from the list is the Bryan Herta/Vision Racing entry. They announced last week that they would only concentrate on their Indy Lights program this May. Maybe next year.
