Indy Lights – Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Signs Sage Karam for 2013

As if the Schmidt Peterson Motorsports stable wasn’t already stacked with talent, the juggernaut team in Firestone Indy Lights announced the signing of a third supremely talented driver, Sage Karam. As we saw Andretti sign Zach and Munoz, I thought perhaps they would expand to…

IndyCar – Saturday Wrap-up from Iowa

Saturday was a busy day at the Iowa Speedway. The qualifying session and races for the US F2000 National Championship presented by Cooper Tires powered by Mazda, the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear, and the Firestone Indy Lights were all held on Saturday, which made for a packed schedule of on-track activity. I would report on the qualifying sessions for the US F2000 and the Star Mazda, but I didn’t see them. I COULDN’T see them! The track didn’t open its gates until 1:00pm, and since I was tardy…

It was a weekend of great open-wheel racing, torrential rainstorms aside. So good in fact, the officials decided, “What the heck! Let’s play two!” Ok, perhaps it wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment decision, but the series did run two races that weekend. The class of the field that weekend…
