Despite a rocky start, the Timing and Scoring on IndyCar.com finally came online, although the video was more of a slideshow than smooth video. Here’s hoping that the online coverage improves over the season. The ontrack action, however was pretty dicey. Will Power picked up right where he left off by setting the top time during this morning’s first practice session for the IZOD IndyCar Series on the Streets of St. Petersburg. Will won the season opener on the new street circuit in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and this morning continued to display his mastery of the art of street racing. Once again the IndyCar Series returns to the Texas Motor Speedway. TMS is one of the few venues where the IndyCar series has had a sustained run of good attendance numbers that have been helped by lots of the NASCAR season ticket holders who have stopped selling or giving away their IndyCar tickets and started attending the race. Due to yesterdays typical Indiana weather, ROP was cut short and practice was canceled due to rain. A further ROP session was added for this morning and today’s practice got an early start at 10:30 am to make up for lost time yesterday. While the weather remained threatening all day, the teams took full advantage of today’s extended practice in preparation for qualifying.
