IndyCar – Danica Staying Put?

While the silly season has been in full swing across all forms of major motorsport, no move has received as much attention as Danica Patrick and her future. The rumors have been in full affect all year as the female drivers contract comes to an end. Arguably one of the hottest commercial properties and a pretty good driver in her own right, Patrick has been rumored from USF1 to Stewart Haas Racing all the way to TCGR. However, Autosport has just ran a story that indicates Danica will stay at…

F1 – Grand Prix of Europe

With seven events left on the 2009 Formula 1 schedule, the teams were in Valencia this weekend for the Grand Prix of Europe. All eyes were on local favorite Fernando Alonso and his Renault team as well as the resurgent McLaren Mercedes team who were able to take a surprising win last round in Hungary. Alonso would have ground to make up during the race as he would slot in at eighth on the grid. The McLaren’s kept up there quick pace and would start the race from the front…

Rally – Target of 4

The promotional body of the WRC has stated they would like to have four manufacturers in the pinnacle of rally racing for 2011. Unless something drastic happens, I believe it is safe for us to assume that Ford and Citroen will make up half of the quota. The question is who else is willing to make a program in the series now that the rules have been cast in stone? There are rumored teams out there and we are going to break a couple of them down now and look…

IndyLights – Mid-Ohio Review

The general fan reaction around the blogs, forums, and twitter streams to the IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights races at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course have all been about the same, and in my opinion, completely off the mark. I can hear the detractors now, “So, Doug, what makes you think that you’re right in the face of so many who say that the races were boring.” I have two comments to that: I was actually there, and I paid attention to more than just the leader. Listen to the…

F1 – Renault Ban Lifted for Valencia

The FIA Court of Appeals met today to discuss the Renault ban that was put in place after a tire came off the car of Fernando Alonso during the Hungarian Grand Prix. The team’s defense was that there was no conscious wrong doing when Fernando left his pit box on his first stop. The highlight was well shown during the US coverage in which there appeared to be a problem on the right front wheel lock that later seen the tire come off the car and go into a grassy…

Le Mans – Highcroft/Rahal Strike @ RA

The American Le Mans series had the spotlight all to themselves this weekend at Road America. All be it a rather dry and boring season, we had some hope with the GT2 class and a potential surprise in LMP 2 to look forward to. Highcroft Racing was able to take the victory and end a rather impressive streak for opposing Acura team De Ferran Racing. An early caution stop for De Ferran let the Highcroft machine charge ahead. Through the natural cycle of stops an dcautions however, both Acura P1…

IndyCar – Mid-Ohio Review

The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is a beautiful race track, and the morning sun on Race Day made it look even more fantastic. Even at 7:30 in the morning, the hills along the Esses were filling up fast. Qualification on Saturday was amazing to watch, especially with Justin Wilson doing so well. Briscoe earned the pole, but Wilson was right along side him qualifying P2 for Sunday’s race. In the previous road race at Watkins Glen, Wilson scored Dale Coyne Racing’s first ever win in any major open-wheel series. It…
