Episode 175 – OpenPaddock.net Podcast

The whole crew, save for Shaun as we await his safe return from deployment, are on this episode of the OpenPaddock.net Podcast. Mike Shaw recaps the amazing Rally Sweden and the dominance Sebastian Ogier in his new Volkswagen Polo, and one of the best photos ever in the history of the WRC (of course it’s of Petter).

Kevin Neely and Mike Whitesell share their opinions on the latest news from IndyCar, including the proposed tax incentive the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is seeking from the State of Indiana and the potential of Brian Barnhart as CEO of the league. Doug recaps the final three rounds of the 2013 USF2000 Winterfest at Palm Beach International Raceway as well as Pro Mazda testing at Sebring, and shares a conversation he had with Lisa Noble, Chairman of the Board for the Sports Car Club of America, about some exciting changes to club racing, solo, rally cross and road rally. Kevin and Mike wrap up the evening for us with commentary on the latest news from the wacky world of Formula One, and we give you a research assignment for next week as part of our MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development swag give-away program.

  1. Excellent show, as was the in-depth interview with Lisa Noble (which was especially good, with its look back at what the SCCA used to look like and a peek into the SCCA’s future). The Open Paddock guys continue to raise the bar (and not just the one of the liquid variety)!
