Luczo Dragon Racing released a statement today revealing that LDR and de Ferran Motorsports will join forces for the 2010 season. This is great news for the former Indianapolis 500 champion’s suddenly ailing team.

As the season ended, and we got deeper into the off-season, it became less and less likely that we would see de Ferran field any racing effort at all. This recent announcement of a merger with LDR salvages the de Ferran Motorsports company, and creates a team with a combination of lightning fast young talent from LDR’s crew and their driver, Raphael “Rafa” Matos, 2008 Firestone Indy Lights Champion and 2007 Atlantics Championship Champion, and DFM’s immense engineering and racecraft prowess.

Our skills are highly complementary and we all have the same vision and ambitions. We’re very excited about the direction of our team.”
At the moment, they will remain a single-car team, but everything is set in place for LDR/DFM to become a serious contender in the series and with a little bit of success, we could easily see a part-time 2nd car added at any time.
