Marcus Gronholm will be behind the wheel in Finland after his run at the Pikes Peak event. Gronholm has confirmed he will compete in Finland, but not for the WRC event. Instead, Gronholm will be running a rallysprint knockout competition that takes place at the end of day two of the Rally Finland. It will be in a super special stage setting in which two cars will go head to head and eventually knockout until there is only one remaining.
Gronholm will be running a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX for the event. The event takes place on the super special stage in Killeri and will host the WRC cars after the sprint competition. It will not be all roses for Gronholm however, as he will be challenged by Tommy Hallia, who is a four time rallysprint champion in Finland. Needless to say the battle will be intense, but I will give the nod to Marcus on the event. He has not lost a beat since stepping out of the car about 18 months ago. I have not heard if he will be entering anymore WRC events at this time. He did put together the one off with Prodrive, which may see the Fin back in a car next year as Dave Richards has announced his plans to potentially re-enter competition in 2010.
