The Rally America series blazes the Oregon Trail this weekend for the fourth round of the championship. Competition will open later today as the battle for the national championship blazes on. The top of the standings are close with Andrew Comrie-Picard with a slender 3 point lead over Tanner Foust and Travis Pastrana.
The rally will bring about over 100 miles of twisty road. Drivers can expect woodland areas as well as high speed farming roads that will make this rally just as exciting as those that have come before it this year. This event also features a number of elevation changes that will test driver and equipment over the weekend.
As far as predictions go for the weekend, I am going with Travis Pastrana for the overall victory. Pastrana has two wins this year and does not look like he is slowing down. Comrie-Picard may challenge for the win also. He has shown amazing consistancy this year and being on top in points never just happens. Ken Block is also a threat, but needs to get his driving a little under control before I can promote him for victory. He has two crashes in three events and needs to focus on just putting together a good finish to secure points. Tanner Foust has been quick all year, but reliability continues to be a factor event after event. The Mitsubishi Evolution X has the pace but needs to hold on a little longer if he is to take the title.
