INDYCAR – TCGR Will Keep Honda

It was announced this weekend that Target Chip Ganassi racing will be supplied by Honda next season once engine competition is aloud. There was heavy speculation that perhaps given Ganassi’s efforts in NASCAR, he would switch to Chevrolet power next year. The announcement is huge for Honda and seems as yet another hit to Andretti Autosport who was thought to be Honda’s ‘anchor’ team in 2012.

Ganassi has been supplied by Honda dating back to the team’s days in the ChampCar World Series. The manufacturer backed the team to four championships during the mid to late 90’s.

This is a slight blow to the Andretti team that has seen nothing overly positive during the month of May. It was highly thought that Andretti would be the beneficiary of Honda power. Given the teams history with both INDYCAR and the American Le Mans series, a great working relationship exists. That being said though, you cannot go against the grain on this one. TCGR has owned every important piece of the IZOD IndyCar Series for the last few years.

  1. Well Andretti still moves up one spot with Penske gone. Also makes sense why TCGR drivers want aero-kits.
