Indy Lights – Ostella Completes Test with Jensen MotorSport

Toronto native, David Ostella, signed on wtih Jensen MotorSport last November to run in the 2011 Firestone Indy Lights Series after competing for two years in the Star Mazda Championship with the AIM Autosport team. Ostella got his first opportunity to test a Firestone Indy Lights car down at Sebring International Raceway around the short course and laid down a best time of 58.4 s.

“It was a really productive test for David and for our team. This was David’s first time driving the Indy Lights car on a road course, and he did a very professional job to achieve all of our objectives at our first test of the year.” — Remi Lanteigne, Jensen MotorSport Chief Technical Officer

“My first test went really well. There is a big increase in power and weight with the Indy Lights car as compared to the Star Mazda race car that I have been driving the past 2 seasons. But with knowledgeable guidance from my engineer Remi Lanteigne, we were quickly able to set competitive times with the other teams testing.” — David Ostella

A new team and a new engineer may be just the thing Ostella needs to kick his career into high gear. His past two seasons with AIM Autosport in Star Mazda were solid, but not stellar, finishing 13th and 12th in points during the 2009 and 2010 seasons with one podium finish in 2009. Like I said solid, but not stellar. This year could be different for the young Canadian, and competing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Firestone Freedom 100 has GOT to be a big motivator.
