IndyCar – Paul Tracy Back In The Saddle

Paul Tracy will be back in the #24 Dreyer & Reinbold Racing car at Kentucky and Motegi in replacement of the still convalescing Mike Conway. Tracy had ran at Watkins Glen for DRR earlier this year, and had driven for KV Racing Technologies in the two Canadian races.

With as dodgy as the action was at Chicago, this weekend’s race at Kentucky could get extremely interesting with PT in the mix. I say this for a couple of reasons. First, because PT is …well… because he’s PT. Let’s face it, Tracy has been known to be overly aggressive at times. In his last open-wheel victory at Cleveland, he tore off three of his own nose cones and trashed two other competitor’s cars on his way to P1. Although, he’s kept his nose clean, and his nose cone in tact this year, we all know that hyper-aggressive style is always just beneath the surface and ready to burst out. Second, Tracy is someone who CAN shoulder and shove his way up to the front. Many of the other drivers that have taken a turn substituting for Conway in the #24 have been good drivers, but none of them have had the ability to jump in any given car and make it perform like Tracy can, his Indy 500 performance for KV Racing notwithstanding. So what can we expect in Kentucky where the racing action is likely to be just as intense as we saw last Saturday night at Chicagoland? Something EPIC! Whether its going to be something that’s an epic win or an epic fail remains to be seen, but I doubt that we’ll simply see Tracy out there clocking laps and trying to stay out of the way of the leaders. Either way it turns out, it will be a win for us fans!
