Rally – WRC Odd Couple?

There are a number of odd couple scenarios that we can see this season already in the WRC. Raikkonen and Ogier, Ken Block and M-Sport are just a couple that come to mind. Today it was announced that Monster Energy and Stobart will now join forces.

Starting this weekend in Sweden, both Monster and Stobart will grace the cars of Ken Block and UK driver Matthew Wilson. Stobart, a UK based logistics firm, has been the primary sponsor of the M-Sport satellite team at rallies premiere level. Stobart Group CEO Andrew Tinkler had this to say on the deal-

“It’s fantastic to be involved with the WRC again this year and to be working closely with M-Sport. The branding agreement with the Monster Team will ensure an even greater level of global brand exposure for Stobart, especially in a market such as the USA where there’s a lot of potential for our brand, and business, to grow.”

There you have it ladies and gentleman! Rallies newest odd couple. Interesting how Ken moves to the WRC and now classical European firms see the gateway into a whole new market to push their products and services. Mark this up as a positive step for Ken and the WRC as we look to gain our own event one day.

  1. Honestly, I don’t care if PETA and Omaha Steaks team up, so long as they put Ken Block in a WRC Focus, I’m all for it!
