IndyCar – Pink Lloyd for Miami

carbday_lloydIf you recall a few weeks ago, Alex Lloyd ended his relationship with Chip Ganassi. He signed with Chip after winning the 2007 Indy Pro Series championship in the hopes of getting a race seat. But this proved to be very difficult. Chip’s contract with Target would not allow him to run a 3rd car unless it had the same funding as the two Target cars (estimated at $8 million per car), so Alex drove for Chip (through Rahal and Schmidt) at the last two 500’s, and that was it.

With Chip’s blessing, Alex severed his relationship with TCGR and started looking for new opportunities with an emphasis on having a full season ride for 2010. But until then, Alex has managed to land the #2 seat at Newman Haas Lanigan for the season ending Homestead race.

Oriol Servia has taken driver duties at NHLR for the last three races since Robert Doornbos took a downward career step to HVM Racing which he claimed was his choice, but we all know better. Oriol has been doing very well, trumping Roberts best NHLR finish at 9th place with a 6th place at Sonoma, but the McCrew looks to be auditioning drivers for the 2010 season who appear to at least have a connection to money, which Oriol seems to lack, given his inability to land a full time seat in 2009.

No word yet if Alex will be donning the pink HER color scheme again, but if he does, he will be in good company since Sarah Fisher will also be attending Homestead in her pink Susan G. Komen Dollar General Car with pinkwall tires courtesy of Firestone.
