Rally – Pastrana Wins Oregon Trail

travis-pastrana-3Round 4 of the Rally America championship has ended and Travis Pastrana brings home his second victory in a row for Team Subaru North America. With this win, Pastrana now moves to the top of the points table.

Pastrana had a relatively uneventful final day as he continued to cruise through the Oregon countryside. Pastrana increased his gap from day 2 to finish 57 seconds ahead of Rockstar Energy’s Tanner Foust. Foust spent most of the weekend trying to find a quick pace to challenge Pastrana had a serious near miss on the final stage of the event. He spun the car and hit a rock causing damage to the suspension but was still able to limp it home for the runner up spot. Overall it was a pretty consistent rally for the Rockstar team. He finished a whopping 3.6 seconds ahead of Polish driver Andi Mancin who took home the final podium position. Andrew “ACP” Comrie-Picard finished a disappointing 4th place as he spent most of day 3 making up time after the time lost form the previous day with a tire puncture. The frustrating performance dropped ACP to third in the points battle behind Foust.

Dave Mirra closed out the SP class with an easy victory. The SP class suffered massive attrition all weekend long and Mirra was able to add another win to the column.

These are the things that make this championship one of the best rally series in the world. The top 5 or 6 drivers are constantly swapping out positions and taking the top of the points. The fans are always welcome to get as close to the cars and drivers as they like and the action on the course is never disappointing. For those of you in the PA who read and follow our site, I highly recommend that you put this on your calendar of things to do in June. I promise you that this will be a decision you will not regret.

Next on the Rally America calendar is the Susquehannock Rally that will be held on 5-6 June in Wellsboro PA. Open Paddock will of course have daily results and plenty of opinion to go around.
