F1 – Mercedes Buys Brawn
As we lose one manufacturer, we now gain another as Mercedes announced today that it has purchased a 75% majority in the Brackley based Brawn GP. Also announced was the contract renewal of their deal with McLaren as well until 2015. Chatter had indicated that Mercedes would become more involved with Brawn GP, but to what degree remained a close secret. The team will now be a full works operation and will use the same Brackley base as opposed to opening... [Read More...]
F1 – Bridgestone Stop Supply After 2010
Bridgestone has dropped a bombshell on the F1 world by announcing they will not be supplying tires for the championship after 2010. The announcement comes as the F1 season wrapped up its 2009 season in Abu Dhabi. The tire manufacturer stated that they will continue to support the teams through 2010 but indicated that the current impact of the continuing evolution of the business environment was the lead reason for the departure. Bridgestone also indicated... [Read More...]
Rally – Latvala Leads OZ
The WRC has concluded day 1 in Australia and a bit of a surprise has taken shape at the top of the leader board. The surprises may be short lived because of road conditions, however there is clearly some tactical decision making going on amongst the title contenders. Jari Matti Latvala has put the Ford Focus at the front of the rally after day 1 with a slim lead over Citroen Junior Team driver Sebastian Ogier. Ogier is off to the best start in his... F1 – Canada Perhaps in 2010
Can Bernie really turn this down? As I was searching through the usual sites for news this morning a story on Speedtv.com caught my eye, and it would appear that the Canadian government may be making a bid to host F1 yet again in 2010. As we remember the grand prix was cancelled this year due to lack of funding. Bernie set the price mark way too high for a sub par product. The one problem in the whole mess was the fact that the North American leg... [Read More...]

F1 – Bahrain Preview
Here we are on the eve of the first free practice session and for me, it feels like the first race of the season. We have had a number of variables thus far that have hampered us from really gauging the field. And what would be a Formula 1 weekend without a little news to build up the show. The Sakhir circuit is a hot, dry, and a wide open race track. The long straightaways and twisty turns are going to be ideal for the KERS on the few select cars... [Read More...]
Prodrive to Contest More Rallies?
This weekend marked the return of Prodrive into the realm of WRC for the first time since Subaru pulled out from the sport during this off season. With Marcus Gronholm at the wheel the team seemed poised for a podium finish only to have an accident on day 2 take them out of competition. The team has made no announcement about which rallies they will contest and it is also unknown if Marcus will be back behind the wheel. One thing that could not be... [Read More...]
What Went Wrong
The first round of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship has come and gone. The hype is over and what was thought to be a dream has now settled into reality. Jenson Button and Brawn GP are for real and the top teams are left asking themselves what is next. They however should not be the only ones asking that question. The radical rule changes that were put in place for this year’s championship were seen every time a car flashed past the camera.... [Read More...]
Just When You Thought it Was Safe
Just when you thought it was safe to venture back onto the race track, Red Bull has announced David Coulthard is in special reserve in case one of the Red Bull drivers are unable to race in the early stages of the 09 campaign. Granted we have no reason to believe that young Vettel has much to worry about unless the RBR’s suspension fails completely as it did last year for the first few races. This reserve is probably more in tune with Mark Webber... [Read More...]
