Rally – New Super 2000 Class for WRC

Acquiescing to concerns from the teams that the Super 2000 and Group N performance gap was becoming too wide, the FIA has proposed separating the two specifications for the 2010 season. The current production class of the WRC, which allows for both S2000 and N4 cars, will be split into two distinct championships. The S2000 cars will compete in the S-WRC class and the N4 cars will compete in the P-WRC class. Volkswagon Returns to IRC Competition

The German manufacturer Volkswagen  is making a return to the IRC competition with its latest installment of the Polo Super 2000. Rene Georges Rally Sport will be the team and young Frenchman Julien Maurin will be the driver. The car has ran paces in tarmac testing and will be put to the gravel in a final test before the debut in the Sata Rally Azores from 7-9 May. IRC Safari Rally Preview

The IRC will now kick off its third round this weekend in the historic Safari Rally that will take place in Kenya on the African continent. The rally is entering its 57th installment and will start with a spectator stage in Nairobi on Friday 3 April. The rally will then open up into grueling gravel stages and conclude Sunday.
