IndyCar – New Fuel Probe for 2010

Hopefully a recently announced change to the refueling system for the 2010 IndyCar season will see a reduction in the number of premature drive-offs and fuel spills that lead to the fiery pit-lane incidents that we saw in 2009. Two such incidents stand out in my mind: Meira’s fire at Indianapolis, and Tony “The Torch” Kanaan’s fire in Edmonton. IndyCar – Meira Situation Update

Vitor Meira suffered a massive accident in the 93rd running of the Indianapolis 500 and has been transported to Methodist Hospital. Track officials did say that Meira was alert and moving all extremities after the huge head on impact at 220 mph. He was carried off the track on a stretcher but was complaining of lower back pains. Rapheal Matos was the second car involved and suffered a bruised knee. He was able to walk off the track but needed track officials assistance. We will keep the situation updated as…
