RallyCast Episode 53 – The 100 Acre Wood Rally Review and an Open Paddock Reunion

Podcast: Play in new window | DownloadWell, we recorded this about 2 week ago and I’m just now getting around to posting it. Apologies for the delay as life kind of got in the way.  Anyway, in this episode we had a bit of an Open Paddock reunion where I’m joined by 2 former hosts from the previous version of OpenPaddock, Doug Patterson and John Olsakovsky. Doug is a well known motorsports photographer among his many other exploits, and John “The Race Fan” Olsakovsky has been to many an IndyCar…

The Quick Recap – Rally in the 100 Acre Wood

A close battle at the front, massive accidents, and wide-spread attrition made the 2016 Rally in the 100 Acre Wood one to remember. It feels like someone snuck “Do a Barrel Roll (Press Z or R twice)” into the Jemba notes this year. A Red Cross came out twice this weekend, delaying stages, and even more drivers had offs, rolls, and skids. Thankfully, nobody was seriously injured in any of these instances. A side effect of the delays, stages traditionally run in the dark that we feared gone, thanks to…

In total, nearly 70 entries are slated to do their best Christopher Robin impressions, a great turnout for the second Rally America national event of the year. New Liveries Abound for Rally in the 100 Acre Wood

Although it is the 2nd round of the 2016 Rally America Championship, the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood has become the stage for many new team liveries.   We at Open Paddock have been raving about the All Fours Rally Team livery they showed up with at Sno*Drift designed by RallyDesign. It is quite striking, but here’s a look at what else you’ll see from the competition at the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood this weekend. Nick Roberts changes up his “Planel” design for a new design that hasn’t…

Rally America – 2014 Rally in the 100 Acre Wood

The 2014 Rally America season continued this past weekend as southern Missouri was host to the second event of the 2014 Rally America Nation Championship, Rally in the 100 Acre Woods. Rally – 2014 Rally in the 100 Acre Wood Preview

Round 2 of the Rally America National Championship gets underway this Friday and Saturday at what is traditionally the fastest event of the season, The Rally in the 100 Acre Wood.  Wide roads with firmly packed dirt make for high speeds with drivers frequently butting up against the rev-limiter.  Last year such speeds weren’t possible as a freak storm pounded the area with ice pellets and freezing temperatures that turned the event into Sno*Drift 2.0.  That won’t be the case for 2014 though as the forecast is showing temps in…

Flying High at the 100 Acre Wood Rally!

In the World Rally Championship their is Colin’s Crest in Sweden, and El Bronco in Mexico.  At the 100 Acre Wood Rally here in America we have the “Cattle Guard Jump!”  OpenPaddock’s professional photographer extraordinaire Doug Patterson trekked two miles (up hill both ways he tells me)  to capture the action at the Cattle Guard on film.  Here’s Doug’s description of the setting: I’ve been going to the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood headquartered in Salem, MO since 2009, and I’ve loved the experience every single year. Rally – Photos from the 100 Acre Wood

For the first time in a very long while, the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood in and around the Mark Twain National Forest in Southeastern Missouri saw snow-packed roads! It made it tough for many of the volunteers and some of the teams to make it to the event, but there were still a healthy number of folk who made it in before the snows hit. The benefit for us fans was that we were treated to a Sno*Drift Part II on Friday, and great strategy and racing as…
