Meanwhile out West…. Rocky Mountain Rally!

While today continues the 2nd day of STPR in the states, out west and a wee bit north of the border in Canada the Rocky Mountain Rally kicks off.  The 2 day event is the 2nd round of the Canadian Rally Championship and is a favorite among drivers.  The entry list may not be large in number, but is big on competition.  A number of Pacific Northwest competitors cross both borders for the regional Cascadia International Rally Championship which mixes CRC, Rally America, and regional events.   The Rocky Mountain Rally consists of over 100 KM of stage action on Saturday and a further 70KM on Sunday through the twisty mountainous roads surrounding Invermere, British Columbia.

Topping the list of entries is factory Subaru of Canada driver and multi-Canadian Rally Champion and Rally America Champion Antoine L’Estage.  Hot on his heels will be Joel Levac who has proven that his WRC spec Mini can contend with the factory Subaru if he can keep mistakes to a minimum.  Other somewhat familiar names to USA fans might be Boris Djordjevic or David Nickel who were both at the Olympus Rally a few weeks ago along with several others.  One of my personal favorites has to be the return of Dave Clark in his RWD Merkur XR4Ti.  Dave is a brand new papa having had to skip Olympus because his wife’s due date was right around the time of the rally.  We’ll let that one slide….this time Dave. 🙂  Full entry list for the Rocky Mountain Rally can be found here.

You should be able to follow the rally via the Canadian Rally Championship Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram or the Rocky Mountain Rally Facebook and Twitter feeds as well.  Also one of our rally friends from up north, Michael Cleaver, is going to attempt Periscope from at least the service park if available to give us the scoop of what’s been going on out on the stages.  Follow his Twitter feed here:  https://twitter.com/CPMechMike

And so continues another fabulous weekend of rallying in North America!
