WRC – Liveries, Liveries, and More Liveries

You get a new livery, and you get a new livery, and you get a new livery….it’s that Oprah Winfrey Show time of year where all the major teams release their “New Look” for the 2015 season.  Since every car in the modern WRC has the exact same profile, the teams have to do something to stand out.  I have to tip my hat to both M-Sport and VW for the most dramatic of designs, however one must wonder whether the two teams somehow collaborated before coming up with their 2015 look.  On the other hand Citroen has stuck with their rather boring colors, but did add a historical reference “60” to their livery as it has been 60 years since the original Citroen DS was introduced at the 1955 Paris Motor Show.  Hyundia WRC, which last year gave us all surprise with their new powder-blue “N” base color and bright orange accents was the most disspointing.  Their color scheme is exactly the same with some new sponsor logos.  Let’s just hope what’s under Hyundai’s hood is where the big changes have been made.

On the privateer side, Martin Prokop showed once again that he is willing to think outside the box with his new Fiesta RS WRC sponsored by Jipocar.  And Robert Kubica has also gone the more dramatic with a gun-metal base to his Lotos sponsored Fiesta entry.  This all makes one wonder, what is Ken Block and the guys at Hoonigan Racing Division going to release for a livery this year?  We know that Block is the epitome of going “all in” for something crazy and even sometimes a bit devilish, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with.
