PR – RED BULL GLOBAL RALLYCROSS RETURNS TO DIRTFISH

The breaking news that really kind of isn’t.  Red Bull GRC officially announced today that DirtFish Rally School will be the host of the penultimate round of the championship this coming September 26th and 27th.  In all honesty, I can’t think of anywhere else in the Pacific Northwest to showcase GRC.  I was there back in 2011 and it was quite honestly the best venue they’ve ever had for Rallycross in the USA, ever.  The reason I say this isn’t breaking news is simply because of DirtFish Rally School’s involvement in rally and GRC.  Some of you may recall Travis Pastrana’s former Dodge Dart team was based at DirtFish, Vermont Sportscar makes the Subaru rally cars used for their school, and of course they have previous experience in hosting a GRC event which makes this a no-brainer.  Hopefully the track will be of similar design as 2011, albeit a little wider and slightly longer distance.  One of the hallmark features is where the cars tear through the old mill building getting up to 100MPH before slamming on the brakes for a tight 90 degree turn out the door, which is where Dave Mirra ripped off his left rear on a concrete barrier.  The school grounds offer some great changes in surfaces and the Northwest weather is always unpredictable which should make for an extremely exciting event.

RED BULL GLOBAL RALLYCROSS RETURNS TO DIRTFISH FOR PENULTIMATE EVENT OF 2014 SEASON

LOS ANGELES, CA (July 14, 2014) – Red Bull Global Rallycross is pleased to announce that the series will return to DirtFish in Snoqualmie, near Seattle, WA, for the penultimate round of the 2014 Red Bull GRC season. The two-day event will take place on Friday, September 26, and Saturday, September 27, and will be broadcast on Sunday, September 28, at 1PM ET on NBC.

“We’re very excited to bring Red Bull Global Rallycross back to the Seattle market this September,” said Red Bull GRC CEO Colin Dyne. “Returning to Seattle has been a priority for us, and we’re pleased to partner with DirtFish to bring world-class racing to their grounds once again.”

“Returning to the site of the second-ever GRC event, and one of our all time favorite tracks, is something we’re really excited about,” continued Chip Pankow, COO. “We can’t wait to welcome back the fans from season one and see many new ones—they’ll be able to witness the progress the series has made since those early days first hand.”

The event will mark the second time that Red Bull Global Rallycross has visited DirtFish grounds, hosting a two-day show at the location back in April 2011. The event was a fan favorite, providing incredible race action through the dirt and an abandoned warehouse. Olsbergs MSE principal Andreas Eriksson won the first day’s event, while two-time Red Bull GRC champion Tanner Foust won the second day’s finale.

In 2014, the series will return to DirtFish with a completely reconfigured track and many fresh faces. Foust and Rhys Millen will headline the Red Bull GRC drivers making their return to the venue, while Olsbergs MSE, Subaru Rally Team USA, and Hyundai/Rhys Millen Racing will also visit DirtFish as part of the series for the second time.

“People are still talking about the event we had in 2011 and we are often asked when we are going to have another one,” said DirtFish’s Marketing Director Troy Jorgensen.  “We are very excited to have Red Bull GRC return to DirtFish and expect this event to be a favorite for both the fans and the drivers this season.”

Tickets go on sale Friday, July 18, 2014 at www.RedBullGlobalRallycross.com/SEA .
