“We got a really good start and took the lead from Chris Cumming, after that we led the rest of the way. A couple of restarts made it difficult, but the Takis 8Star PC car was phenomenal all day and I can’t thank the guys enough for giving me this quality car. The Lites were difficult as they were almost as fast as us around the corners, but we were smart enough to keep the car in one piece,” stated Rayhall.

Second place went to the polesitter Chris Cumming in the No. 08 RSR Racing, while third place went to the No. 38 Performance Tech Motorsports of David Ostella.

CORE autosport co-drivers Colin Braun and Jon Bennett have had a great start to the 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship in their No. 54 ORECA FLM09. The trend continued this past Saturday during the Grand Prix of Kansas, which saw Prototype Challenge (PC) machines race alongside the IMSA Cooper Tires Prototype Lites powered by Mazda series.

Once in the lead, Braun established a comfortable 4.6 second lead over the No. 8 Starworks Motorsports ORECA FLM09 of Renger van der Zande.“It’s always a challenge, you don’t know how the traffic situation is going to go down,” Braun said. “I was trying to save a bit of my tires for the end of the race, in case we might have a late race caution.

“I tried to build a good enough gap to not take too many risks. It’s an unknown for us how the Lites cars are going to handle the traffic; it’s all new to them. I thought they did a great job overall. I wouldn’t say I felt a tremendous amount of pressure, but they didn’t hand it to us, that’s for sure, “stated Braun.
