Flag to Flag – 18 September *Update 1:58 Eastern*

In an attempt to try something new, I would like to test a flag to flag post that will be a running microblog if you will of key stories throughout the day on the various series we cover here at the site. This will be a living and breathing post that will be compiled throughout the day with bigger stories getting a whole article dedicated. A lot of these stories will be linked to pages like Autosport and Racer, but will have a little sprinkling of opinion for good measure! Let us know what you think about the idea!

IICS – Peter Dempsey working on IndyCar ride

National Speed Sport News has an article discussing the possibility of Belardi Racing’s Peter Dempsey moving up to an IZOD IndyCar Series ride in 2014. If any driver has certainly paid their dues in Firestone Indy Lights, it’s Peter. Much of the buzz around him involves the 2013 Firestone Freedom 100 at Indianapolis, where he won by the closest margin in speedway history. given the right opportunity, Peter could be a very good IICS driver.

USCC – Wayne Taylor Racing Working Towards Two Daytona Prototypes for 2014

IMG_4426As 2014 approaches, my interest in the United Sports Car Championship grows as each news story is released. Racer has a story this morning that shows Wayne Taylor is serious about fielding two cars in next year’s championship. According to Taylor, a number of manufacturers are going to be making a pretty large push for the title, and he feels that having two cars and two sets of information to play from will keep his championship leading outfit competitive. I really like the energy surrounding this merger and I am very hopeful that in can flourish on track next year with fantastic racing product.

Formula 1 – Alonso/Raikkonen to Clash

logo_escuderia_ferrari_2011Felipe Massa seems to understand what everybody watching Formula 1 also understands, Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso are going to battle and there will be hurt feelings. According to an article on Autosport , Massa says that Ferrari are not ready for another clash of egos going forward. I fully believe that Massa has a valid point. If you look at the last couple of decades, Ferrari has been a team all about supporting a top quality driver with a suitable number two man. With Alonso and Raikkonen, we get a couple guys who refuse to lose to anyone. That teamed with the frustrations both have in trying to dethrone Sebastian Vettel and we are going to be in for a great soap opera in 2014!
