OpenPaddock Podcast – Episode 165

This week on the OpenPaddock Podcast, we have a packed show and a full house! Mike, Doug, and Kevin are joined by our new Rally reporter Mike Shaw and friend of the show John Olsakovsky. We begin with analysis from Mike Shaw on Petter Solberg’s future in rally and the sad sorry state of M-Sport. Whitesell and Patterson get excited about the addition of GT3 cars in the SCCA Pirelli World Challenge, for our money, some of the absolute best sports car racing to be found in the US!

The biggest portion of our show this week is of course a discussion of the return of Formula 1 to the United States and the inaugural race at the Circuit of the Americas. John gives us an account of what the venue and event was like as he spend all weekend in Austin. There were some logistic glitches, but we were all agreed that COTA layout was absolutely fantastic and the GP was one of the best of the season.

Lastly, we turn our attention IndyCar and the continued negotiations between Andretti Sports Marketing and the City of Fort Lauderdale. No one is surprised that HVM is fed up and looking to follow Conquest’s example and go sports car racing. To wrap up, we discuss some MRTI tidbits and look at how, if at all, the CEO uncertainty for INDYCAR has affected the ladder program.
