INDYCAR – Scheckter to Fly at New Hampshire

Tomas Scheckter will be back in the IZOD IndyCar series this weekend as it was announced he will sub for the injured Justin Wilson at Dreyer & Reinbold Racing. This past weekend at Mid-Ohio, Wilson suffered a fracture in his spine after catching air coming out of turn one. The subsequent landing impact would cause serious damage to his back and see him out for an expected three months. Scheckter, who has 14 starts with DRR, last competed at the Indianapolis 500 with S&H/KV Racing in the Redline Extreme Energy machine where he finished 8th.

One thing that can be guaranteed is that he will put on a show for sure! Overtaking will not be an issue with TScheck on track! The guy can pass where there is no room and i witnessed this first hand at Indianapolis. Heading back to New Hampshire, he will be an impact player for DRR and has the potential for a very good result. The team is in desperate need for a positive finish as this season has been somewhat disappointing thus far. I think that Scheckter was the best possible substitute given the short notice and will be working hard to perform well in hopes of more opportunities in 2012.

There is still no word on who will fill in for the remaining road course events this season. I am for one hoping that Simon Pagenaud will be back in the car for those events. He performed well given the situation at Mid-Ohio. He is a truly gifted racing talent and I hope we see more of him in events to come not only this year but in 2012 as well.

Regardless, I am excited to see the show Scheckter puts on and hope that he gives DRR a very good result. I think the series needs him in a full time capacity because he genuinely makes the races fun to watch. His chances are boosted by the fact a majority of the drivers have not seen the New Hampshire circuit in sometime. I would not be surprised with a top 10 finish this weekend. Go get em TScheck!
