Big news from HVM and Entergy for 2011

In what was a chilly January morning, HVM Racing announced their primary sponsor for the 2011 season in the IZOD INDYCAR Series. The livery for Simona De Silvestro will be green and white with “Nuclear Clean Air Energy” backing. The program in its fourth year; is from Entergy, a national educational campaign, this will be their first full year with HVM Racing, and in the IZOD INDYCAR Series.

January 24th also is the start to “National Nuclear Science Week”, and thus was the reason for today’s announcement at the InterContinental Hotel at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Maryland. “This is great news for HVM and for Simona” said HVM owner Keith Wiggins. “It gives Simona a long-term opportunity to develop into a top INDYCAR driver while the team will have a stable platform over multiple years to support our championship effort.” Wiggins added.

According to Entergy chief nuclear officer John Herron, “It is an important time for our country to hear our nuclear clean air energy story,” Herron continued “With Simona as a lead spokesperson for our effort, teaming up with HVM and INDYCAR brings visibility to the issue of U.S. energy policy, with multiple national opportunities to reach out to families and fans.”

InterContinental Hotels will also be an associate sponsor for HVM Racing in the IZOD INDYCAR Series in 2011. The CEO of InterContinental made the announcement via a pre-recorded video statement.

Simona De Silvestro stated “I would like to thank Keith Wiggins, HVM, John Herron, Entergy, and InterContinental Hotels for giving me a fast 2011.”  On the announcement for the sponsorship of De Silvestro “It was a major relief for me”, said IZOD INDYCAR CEO Randy Bernard.

“I have never seen so many tickets sold so early.” according to Bernard about the 2011 Baltimore Grand Prix. Randy Bernard also stated he feels the event will be one of the top three for the series. According to Jay Davidson of the Baltimore Grand Prix over 27,000 tickets have already been sold.

The Baltimore Orioles have submitted a request from MLB to keep the race weekend off to help the series have less congestion. No word was given on if the Ravens have made the same effort, although Randy Bernard joked “The NFL will be on strike anyways.”

Also Randy Bernard has said they may know as soon as Friday who will be the on-air broadcast team for Versus in 2011.
