Rally – New 2011 Fiesta Sport Trophy Series Calendar Announced

INAUGURAL FIESTA SPORT TROPHY SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED

Dearborn, Mich. (12/17/2010) – Ford Racing and RallyCar announced today that the inaugural Fiesta Sport Trophy championship for the United States will kick off June 3 at the Susquehanna Trail Performance Rally in Wellsboro, Pa., and comprise of seven events during four weekends, culminating at the Lake Superior Rally in Oct. 15.

The winner of the Fiesta Sport Trophy Championship will receive a ride in a Fiesta R2 at the 2011 Rally Great Britain.

Sanctioned by RallyCar, the Fiesta Sport Trophy championship will run as part of RallyCar’s 2WD class at four events. Each day of competition will represent a round of the FST championship.

The Fiesta Sport Trophy championship is the next step in the process giving enthusiasts an opportunity to compete in their Fiesta.”

FIESTA R2
Ford Racing Performance Group announced at earlier this year at the Specialty Equipment and Manufacturers Association gathering that it was bringing the M Sport developed Fiesta R2 package stateside to let enthusiasts turn their five-door Fiesta into a Fiesta R2 that’s ready to compete on the roads of RallyCar’s Rally America National Championship.

The R2 package offers a series of performance upgrades including powertrain enhancements to the 1.6-liter Ti-VCT four-cylinder engine to deliver 168 horsepower and 134 lb.-ft. of torque.
Other upgrades include:
· Five-speed Sadev sequential gearbox with flat shift gear cut
· Reiger adjustable dampers with Eibach springs
· Ventilated disc brakes with AP four-piston competition calipers

Team O’Neil Rally School in New Hampshire is official reseller for the Fiesta R2 rally. Team O’Neil also offers Ford Racing Fiesta Rally Experience, the only rally experience offered by a manufacturer in North America, and that provides aspiring rally drivers with the opportunity to learn how to drive on a rally course in a Fiesta.

The Fiesta Sport Trophy championship will be supported by a contingency fund for competitors.
