We interrupt this website to bring you this important announcement. Dear Vision Racing Fans, We cannot tell you how much your words of support and encouragement have meant to all of our team members in the past few days. We want you to know that we are working hard to get past this speed bump and get our team back to the business of building race cars & IZOD IndyCar & Firestone Indy Lights racing. Rally – Pastrana Wins Sno* Drift

Defending Rally America champion and defending winner of this event Travis Pastrana was close to not making the race. Not only did he make the race, he dominated the event from start to finish. Travis had suffered a broken collarbone and actually had surgery to fix it so he could compete this weekend. The pain has paid off as Travis has taken the opening round of the 2010 Rally America National Championship. The conditions were some of the worst competitors had ever seen. Much of the stage distance covered was…

IndyCar – Randy Bernard Accepts IRL CEO Position

Its not a real surprise, but its now official. Randy Bernard, former CEO of the Professional Bull Riders Inc., recently accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Indy Racing League. The official word from the league is set to come out sometime next week, but if Curt Cavin says its so, that’s certainly good enough for us here at The Paddock. Many have deep reservations about Mr. Bernard’s qualifications as a CEO of the league given that he has no motorsports experience. Not only that, but he’s never…

Grand-Am – Rolex 24 at Daytona Preview

Take a good look, because this will likely be the singular time that we cover the Grand-Am series. The general consensus amongst the three of us here at Openpaddock is that the Grand-Am series is junk, a glorified version of NASCAR. Furthermore, its our humble opinion (ok, perhaps not so humble) that the Daytona roval is also junk. Having said all that, however, the Daytona 24 is the first major motorsports even of the year in the US, and even if its not the best form of racing, we at…

IndyCar – …well, crap.

I tried to come up with a better, more professional title to this post than “…well, crap.”, but let’s be honest. Nothing else really works for a day like today unless I allow myself to decend into a explitive-laced tirade about the two major bombs that were dropped today. Let’s get this morning’s news out first… “It is with profound regret & heavy hearts that we share the following update with you all. Despite the team’s best efforts, Vision Racing will be suspending all racing operations. We have an amazing…

F1 – Car Launch Dates – Force India Launch – 1/27/10

Up to this point, we have not heard anything from Force India as to the date they will have their public car launch, even though we have known for quite some time that they will be hitting the track at Jerez for the first time on February 10th.  According to a team spokesman, the VJM03 will also be unveiled to the public on the same day. This sounds similar to how Red Bull and Torro Rosso are unveiling their cars the same day of their first scheduled test.  Virgin may…
