Rallybuzz.com has recently ran a story that indicates there is a chance that we could see Petter Solberg in a Fiat Abarth S2000 next year in the WRC. He would be the first to announce his entry into the WRC Cup that has been implemented into next years regulations. While there is nothing concrete at the moment, Solberg did express hiss desire to be back in a factory car and on the the development curve once again. Solberg says that he has made no commitment for next year and a lot can change. He is currently due to meet with Abarth again, Proton who may be bringing a Super 2000 car to the WRC and one cannot rule out potentially talking to Ford after the latest Latvala screw up.

Regardless of what the future holds for Petter, he is a top notch driver with the capability to win. He has proven that with his amazing driving in the 06 Citroen Xsara. He is still good enough to run at the top level in a factory car. There are a number of potential teams that will be entering the sport next year. Solberg will have a couple choices while break out drivers like Sebastian Ogier will have the capability of securing a team lead role. With a mere handful of rallies remaining this year, it is never too early to start the silly season.
