IndyCar – Tracy to Replace Miera

Veteran CART/CCWS/IndyCar driver Paul Tracy has been signed by AJ Foyt to drive his #14 this weekend in at the Milwaukee Mile. This weekend’s race is sponsored by ABC Supply who also sponsors Foyt’s IndyCar effort. Also, it should be noted that the event title is the ABC Supply/AJ Foyt 225. Got to put up a good showing for the sponsors, and who better to thrill the big wigs than the Thrill From West Hill.

Vitor Miera is expected to be out of action for 4-6 months, but he is optimistic that his recovery will only take 3 months. As it stands, Vitor did not have to have back surgery to repair the damage done by his late race contact with Raphael Matos. He has been fitted with a back brace and is on schedule to return to his Florida home by the end of the week.

As for PT, he could not sign a deal for the remainder of the season with Foyt since he is scheduled to race at Toronto and Edmonton with KV Racing.

If you thought the hours of entertainment provided by scanner traffic between AJ and AJ IV was priceless, wait until you get a load of this. Paul Tracy driving for AJ may either put AJ in victory lane once again or result in AJ dragging Paul out of the car during a pit stop. Needless to say, we will be watching this little powder keg with great interest.

  1. This will be fun! I’m a fan of rooting against PT, but I will say that he is always entertaining. The combo of PT and AJ on the same team is indeed as you say, a dry powder keg. I just wish I could be there this weekend to see it!

  2. Does race control allow you to hear driver transmissions? If so, I will be glued to my pc during the race.

It makes sense to hire PT for this race in particular. PT has the best track record of any active driver at Milwaukee over the last 10 or 15 years. He is magic there.

As for further races, it sounds like that is a possibility. But most likely AJ IV will be in the car next weekend at Texas for their home race.

  3. You can hear radio transmissions from select drivers over the Race Control. Hopefully PT will be one of those selected!

  4. Oh yeah! You know I will be doing a Snoopy dance if PT gets broadcast over the net!
